Upcoming Groups

Queer Men of Color (virtual group)

The Queer Men of Color Therapy Group, or QMOC for short, is a space to have open dialogue with men who share similar experiences around our race, ethnicity, gender, and sexuality. QMOC intends to be a safe space where queer men can come together and get real about their hopes, dreams, and plans for their wellness all while building community. In this unique weekly gathering, facilitator and Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Adam-Jon Aparicio, will guide participants through dialogue opportunities on real world concerns that come up for us queer men of color. We'll talk about love, family, friendship, sex, religion, boundaries, and more as we work to build and repair individual self-esteem in a community focused setting.

What is Group Therapy?

My first experience in group therapy was in graduate school as a participant. My assumptions before and the reality were two very different things. The process of getting to know others’ struggles, doubts, dreams, and hopes pushed me to look deep within myself while providing me the ability to {connect} in a place that centered safety and encouraged feedback.

For many, group therapy sounds like a scary leap into a vulnerable place of being seen. If that sounds like you, you are not alone. I count myself lucky to continually witness groups help individuals heal and recognize the life-changing impact of {showing up} in community. Group therapy is a great way to remind yourself that, despite all the pain in the world, tackling life together {empowers} us to face our struggles with strength and tested resolve.

I deeply value the work I do with groups. Your participation in groups can help you develop a greater awareness of diverse perspectives, challenge various patterns of your interpersonal behavior, find connection to others who share similar life struggles or goals, provide a more affordable and frequent pace of therapy, as well as offer a unique soundboard to get you ready to take on the “real world.” If you think this may be for you, please reach out!
